ABOUT ME
Scott Watson the actor isn't just the Hardest Working Mustache in Showbiz!
He’s also a writer of plays, screenplays, TV scripts, fiction and poetry.
Scott Watson also loves to travel, so why not book him for your next shoot happening in an exotic location!
This passion for travel and adventure was sparked in Scott at a young age by living overseas in such places as Botswana in Southern Africa, where he got way too into birdwatching, and Vietnam, where he got way too into birdwatching again.
Scott was lucky enough to live in Botswana and Vietnam growing up due to his Dad being an Entomology Professor. Entomology is the study of insects, which, as it turns out, are everywhere. Therefore, Scott had the world’s insects to thank for all of his adventures growing up. Rather than be grateful to the insects for this, however, Scott still thinks most of them are really gross. Especially moths. Ew.
Scott was born in Reed City, Michigan (pop: 2,000) and continued to grow up there when his family wasn’t living overseas. He attended Reed City High School, where one fateful day he was accidentally locked inside the school after hours. Searching for an escape, Scott instead stumbled upon the RCHS theatre club huddled into the cafetorium (half cafeteria, half auditorium). The theatre club, led by Mr. Timothy Locker, was casting “You Can’t Take it With You.” Scott wandered into this audition, drawn by the distant sounds of zip-zap-zop, and as soon as Mr. Locker laid eyes on Scott he cast him in the show, as there had been only 15 students auditioning for 16 parts.
Thanks to Mr. Locker, and the rest of that cast of “You Can’t Take it With You,” during opening night of the play Scott received his first laugh from a live audience. Electrified and immediately hooked by the raw joy of that first audience laugh, Scott realized then that he wanted to become a professional actor, and his fate was sealed.
After high school, Scott continued to pursue his acting aspirations by attending / graduating from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in Grand Rapids MI with a BA in theatre performance, a minor in writing, and so so many unpaid parking tickets.
While studying at GVSU, Scott also appeared in several seasons of the annual Grand Valley Shakespeare Festival, sparking a life-long passion for Shakespeare.
After graduating from GVSU, Scott moved to Brooklyn in NYC with $35 to his name and his first month’s rent paid, ready to literally go big or go home. While he recommends having much much more than $35 to your name when moving to NYC, Scott was able to survive, build, and flourish in this wonderful town, proving that if you bet on your friends, and yourself, you will always come out on top.
These days, Scott Watson still calls Brooklyn home and works as a professional AEA and SAG-Eligible actor. When he’s not acting or writing, Scott spends most of his time spouting off obscure history facts while his very patient partner pretends to listen. Scott and his partner also cohabitate with a rescued senior Chihuahua named Peanut, who is a very very good boy. Scott is also still way, way, way too into birdwatching.
Thanks for taking the time to read all of this, and for being your own special, wonderful selves.
