Grammarly Commercial: Blow Your Workload Out of the Water
📺 Seen by millions. Shot in Sofia, Bulgaria. Actual amount of water in your office may vary.
Scott Watson’s viral Grammarly performance sparked global recognition — and some internet parody love. While this page focuses on the official commercials, fans can explore Scott’s sketch comedy and character work here.
🎥 Behind the Scenes: Tanks, Talent, and Bulgaria
Ever wondered what it’s like to shoot a commercial in chest-deep water? Welcome to the world behind the Grammarly ads — where an underwater office, Bulgarian production magic, and a surprisingly warm tank made for one of the most memorable shoots of Scott Watson’s career.
On set in Sofia: A flooded inbox brought to life… literally.
Both commercials were filmed in Sofia, Bulgaria, where the brilliant team at B2Y Productions constructed a fully submerged office set — complete with floating monitors, chairs, desks, and bubbling chaos. It wasn’t green screen. It wasn’t VFX. It was a full soundstage built to flood.
Scott admits he was a little nervous about spending two full days waist-deep in water. But to his surprise, the crew kept the temperature perfectly warm — turning the shoot into a buisness casual spa day.
The commercials were helmed by writer/director Dan Opsal, whose comedic instincts and precision made the absurd setting feel oddly grounded. The project was produced by the legendary team at Hungry Man Inc, with local production power from B2Y. Scott’s co-stars, Brandy Ocho and J. Molière, brought unforgettable chemistry to the underwater workplace dynamic.
Special thanks to Grande Morris Casting for bringing Scott into this surreal experience, and to his fearless agent Gina Manfredi at DDO Artists Agency, who continues to champion his work with both heart and hustle.
